We are rapidly settling into school again in a new term. We are pleased to announce the engagement of Miss Mitchell to Mr Paul Topping. Mrs Hamilton is expecting her second child and goes on maternity leave on 4th February. Miss McKernon will be the Primary 5 teacher during this time. Three trainee teachers from Stranmillis University College will be working with P5, P6 and P7 in February and March.

Class tests begin for all children next week. The tests will be based on work covered in class in English, Maths and Science. Four Primary 7 pupils will be going on a trip to Disneyland/Paris next week.

Two new parent representatives were elected to the Governors at the AGM in November. They are Mrs Jackie Kelly and Mr Michael Kane. Over the period of last term the Parents Council / Fundraising Committee added a good amount to funds from their efforts ie

This term they have planned to hold a Fashion Show in Ulidia College on Friday 15th March. Keep this date free and plan to attend.

Charities - Over the Christmas period our children raised £140 for the Cedar Foundation through the sale of stamps for our internal post system. Our non-uniform day raised £152 for Unicef which helps children in third world countries.

There will be a football practice tomorrow, 3.00pm to 4.00pm for pupils in Primary 5 and Primary 6. Children need boots, shin pads and kits. Matches start for this term on week commencing 21st January. Players will be notified in advance.

Application forms for admission to Primary 1 in September 2002 need to be received on or before 30th January. Application forms for admission to the Nursery need to be received on or before 8th February.

Clubs change this term. On Fridays between 2.15pm - 3.00pm Mr Evans will take the Primary 7’s swimming, Mrs Moffett will take Needlework with Primary 6,

Mrs McIlmail will take Cookery with Primary 5 and Miss Blair will take French with the Primary 4’s.

Sacrament of Penance for Primary 3 children will take place this term. Details to follow. Preparation for the First Holy Communion for Primary 4 children will commence this term.

School Reports will be issued for pupils in Primary 1 - Primary 6 on Thursday 14th February. Half Term is Friday 15th and Monday 18th February.

Parent interviews are to be held on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st February.
