Acorn
Integrated Nursery Unit is a new pre-school centre, which had a very
successful opening on 3 September 2001. The Nursery Unit is located
in the grounds of Acorn Integrated Primary School, Carrickfergus.
Nursery
accommodation comprises a recently extended mobile classroom and secure,
enclosed outdoor play area. The recent extension to the main Play
Room houses a Parent/Staff Room and a Quiet Room, ideal for story time.
Mr Barney Evans is
principal of both Acorn Integrated Primary School and Acorn Integrated
Nursery Unit. The Nursery teacher is Mrs Anna Rolloos.
The Nursery day
begins at 8.45am and ends at 11.30am. The day is structured to
provide the children with every opportunity to explore and investigate a
wide variety of materials, while at the same time enabling them to
interact with other children of their own age in a friendly, safe and
secure environment.
The Nursery
curriculum is designed to promote the following areas:
Language
development, Personal, Social and Emotional development,
Creative/Aesthetic development, Early Mathematical Experience, Early
Experience in Science and Technology, Physical development and Knowledge
and Appreciation of the Environment.
The children who
attend Acorn Integrated Nursery are educated in a happy, stimulating
atmosphere. The individual needs of each child are addressed and
their differing cultures are respected.
